West Seattle and Ballard Link Extensions representative project map A map displaying the representative project transit mode, route and general station locations per the Sound Transit 3 Plan. The Ballard Extension will add 7.1 miles of light rail service from downtown Seattle to Ballard’s Market Street area, including a new downtown Seattle rail-only tunnel. 2 existing stations will be expanded, and 7 new light rail stations will be added between International District/Chinatown and Market Street. The 7 new stations are recommended at Denny, South Lake Union and Seattle Center along Denny Way; Smith Cove along Elliot Ave West; Interbay and Market Street along 15th Avenue West. Riders will be able to travel from Ballard to Westlake in 15 minutes. The West Seattle Extension will add 4.7 miles of light rail service from downtown Seattle to West Seattle’s Alaska Junction neighborhood. 2 existing stations will be expanded, and 3 new light rail stations will be added between the Stadium area and Alaska Junction. The 3 new stations are recommended at Delridge, Avalon and Alaska Junction. Riders will be able to travel from West Seattle to SODO in 10 minutes.
